This stamp of a boy and a girl planting a tree commemorates the 60th anniversary of the first observance of Arbor Day in Nebraska in April of 1872.

It also celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Julius Sterling Morton, a member of the Nebraska State Board of Agriculture, who conceived the plan and named the day.
